From an early age she explored remote parts of the country, flying along
side her father in his light aircraft. Growing up in such rich cultural
surroundings imprinted in her a great respect for the people she encountered
and inspired a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature.
"Striking and often raw, rugged landscapes filled with intense colour
mapped the start of my love affair with images. Since I was a child the
elegance of the tribal people filled me with admiration, an admiration
that compelled me as an adult to photograph their amazing form. I had
this intense need to document these communities before western influences
eroded away a pureness in their culture. This led to my first collection
of African tribal Portraits that convey a rare and timeless nobility of
a fascinating people".
